I just changed the theme of my website to a responsive one. It’s the type of website we all hope we’re looking at when the link refreshes and the presenting page either looks normal or we have to intervene, pinch, stretch, turn, or otherwise manipulate the screen for comfortable reading. Devices are here to stay and proliferating profusely. And we read books on them for heavens sake. I can’t. Reading on my iPad is about the limit of my tolerance for small-ness.
Responsive websites (Wikipedia) are formatted for optimal viewing on a variety of devices. They ‘adapt the layout to the viewing environment.’ The process is interesting and still very much evolving. The first book I read on the subject was Responsive Web Design with HTML5 and CSS3 by Ben Frain. I am admittedly not a web designer but am keenly aware of those who are and their efforts to keep up with this fast-moving technology.
I hope you like the new theme and that you’ll let me know what you think as we move forward.
